October in Review

The Church (1989) – 12/10/14 ★★1/2
Nonsensical and inane. Why did I even bother with this apparent sequel to the Dèmoni franchise? I really don't know what to say other than it did some have genuine atmosphere and I did enjoy the theme of medieval satanic lore.

Halloween 3: The Season of the Witch (1983) - 19/10/14 ★★★1/2
A sadly overlooked and under appreciated stand-alone film that offers a bizarre plot based on Halloween's pagan origins. Eye catching cinematography and memorable characters make this film highly entertaining, putting viewers in good mood for the much loved yearly celebration of all things spooky.

Deranged (1974) – 21/10/14 ★★★★
A very fitting title about an individual who was unable to escape the grasp of their possessive mother. Roberts Blossom carries the film through a most eerie and bizarre performance. The noticeable low budget enhances the film's realism.

Fury (2014) – 23/10/14 ★★★★
Seen through the eyes of a battle hardened tank crew, this shockingly brutal WWII blockbuster makes use of religious symbolism and human savagery to recreate the hellish atmosphere soldiers were faced with daily towards the war's end.
