Two Worst Movies of 2014

For a year that was for the most part average at best I only witness two bitterly disappointing titles which happened to be two of the biggest and most anticipated of the 2014. Both of which had the potential to be a lot better than they were. Call my picks controversial if you like but I'm confident there's a lot of your out there who feel the same way I do.

Godzilla
Movies that are obviously bad aren't the worst type of bad movies in my opinion, as they can still entertain me on some level. I can't stand movies that are bland. Movies that hold your attention enough to keep watching but never really excel or amount to anything that makes for a satisfying conclusion or climax. That's exactly what Godzilla is guilty of; in addition to having one of the most misleading trailers in recent years. One of the biggest selling points for this modern monster bash besides the "King of the Monsters" himself was post 'Breaking Bad' Bryan Cranston. So when he died half an hour into the film I just felt like going home, what was the point of staying? He was the only legitimate character in the film. I did give 'Godzilla another chance when it arrived on Blu-ray but all that did was confirm everything I just said.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
The shortest instalment in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy by a considerable margin but unfortunately it felt like the longest. That kind of thing tends to happen when it feels like the story has concluded only 10 minutes in. What remains was the battle of the 'Three and a Bit Armies' which consisted mainly of drawn out action sequences, some of which felt more like cut scenes from a video game. Rather than a satisfying conclusion to an unnecessary long film adaptation to Tolkien's epic story; substance is sadly abandoned for style. Very disappointing.
